UAM in Ninth Place after Day 1 of the Battle for the Belt

The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's golf team will look to climb up the leaderboard tomorrow

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's golf team was back on the course today for the first rounds of the Battle for the Belt. After the first 36 holes of the tournament, the Weevils sit in the ninth position and will look to climb up the leaderboard during the final round of the competition tomorrow morning.  

Carson Garner got UAM off to a quick start today as he recorded an opening round 71 (-1). The sophomore finished his second round of the afternoon with a 76 to record a 147 (+3) on the day.

Julian Audibert shot a first-round 74 and second-round 77 to card a 151 (+7) after his 36 holes at the Hot Springs Country Club today.  

Andrew Pearson followed closely behind Audibert as the junior notched a 153 (+9) on the day.

TJ Baker and Ethan Bearden each tapped in on their final hole to tally a 158 and 163, respectively.  

Henderson State University holds the lead with a 558 (-13) two-round score. Southern Arkansas University and Arkansas Tech University are in a tie for the second spot, while Delta State University holds a slim lead on Mississippi College for the fourth spot. Southeast Oklahoma State University is in the sixth position, while Henderson State University's second unit and Harding University are right in front of the Weevils.

The Weevils compete in the final round of the Battle for the Belt tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
