Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team held their 2021-2022 season home opener on Tuesday against sister school University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The two teams battled out as fans welcomed this year's blossoms back into season, eventually losing the match to the Lions
The first half of the game was a back-and-forth contest between the two teams, but it looked as though the Lions were going to pull ahead, leaving the Blossoms behind on their own turf. Shots just weren't falling for UAM as they struggled to keep up with the UAFS players. Heading into the locker room, there was definitely a bad taste left in the mouth of all the Monticello basketball players.
Coming into the second half, you could tell the Blossoms had come back with a newer attitude, a newer pride, and a newer sense of confidence on the court. They battle back with the Lions to the very last minutes of the match; trying to pry every last point back that they could. Eventually the Blossoms would fall to UAFS 65-54.
