MONTICELLO, AR. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team looked good as ever as they take down Arkansas Tech University in Great American Conference home opener. The Weevils held the Wonder Boys to the very end of the match, eventually taking the victory, 58-55.
The first half was a full showcase of power for the Weevils as they took the lead over the Wonder Boys early in the half, and would hold that lead until the end of the half. Wesley Booker knocked down a 3-pointer to give UAM their biggest lead of the match at 9 points. The Weevils would finish out the half with a 29-22 lead heading into the locker room.
On the defensive end in the opening 20 minutes, UAM held the Wonder Boys to just 4-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc.
Coming into the second half, the Weevils were quick to push their lead to a 10 point lead. ATU was far from giving up as they would slowly come back to take the lead away from UAM with 9:42 left on the clock. The Weevils would show dominance, refusing to let ATU maintain that lead for the remainder of the match. Ray Price tallied the final point for the Weevils on a free throw with 0:06 left to play to go up 58-55.
Kyle Moore led the charge posting 19 points and 7 rebounds.
Ray Price also finished in double digits tallying 13 points..
Defensively, the Weevils registered six steals while forcing ATU into 15 turnovers.

UAM returns to Steelman Field House on Saturday, Dec. 11, for a Saturday evening match against Harding University. Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
