Blossoms Fall in Nail Biter GAC Home Open

The UAM Women's Basketball Team falls to Arkansas Tech University in their Great American Conference home opener on Saturday;

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's basketball teams played their Great American Conference home opener on Saturday. The Blossoms played a nail biter of a game against Arkansas Tech, but eventually fell 72-66.

The first quarter was an outright battle as both teams refused to let the other pull ahead. The Blossoms battled with the Golden Suns till the very end, although they were down 18-17 as the quarter would come to an end.

The second quarter was very similar to the first, as it would prove to be a battle on the quart. The Blossoms were looking the best they have looked all season, as they continued to show what a competitive team looks like. UAM would hold the lead throughout the middle of the quarter, but couldn't hold onto it as they would close out the first half down 35-33.

Coming out of the locker room, the Blossoms were ready to continue their efforts. Arkansas proved to come out on top as they would close out the quarter with a 56-49 lead over UAM.

The fourth quarter proved to go UAM's way as they out-scored ATU 17-16. Even though they out-scored the Golden Suns, ATU would win the game 72-66 and the Blossoms fall to a 0-2 record in conference play.

Alexys Grice
led the charge for the Blossoms posting 17 points and 6 rebounds. Hayley Flores had a great night as she put up 13 points.
Jasmyn Taylor was more than impressive as she scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Defensively, the Blossoms registered ten steals and three blocks, while forcing ATU into 14 turnovers.
