MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball took the court for the first time since Jan. 21, but had to go to battle with only seven active player against Southern Arkansas Monday at Steelman Field House. The short-handed Blossoms fought hard, but could not overcome the lack of depth and a tough shooting night falling 93-51 to the Muleriders.
UAM fell behind early as SAU scored the first 11 points of the contest en route to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter. The Blossoms battled hard in the second quarter but still faced a 46-18 deficit at the half.
UAM continued to fight in the second half as Blossoms found a little more success offensively each quarter, but without enough depth the team struggled to slow down the Muleriders. UAM put together its best performance shooting 43.8 percent in the final quarter, however SAU continued to knock down shots shooting 46.3 percent for the game. The short-handed Blossom ultimately fell 93-51.
Dezirae King led UAM in scoring with 14 point to go along with four steals.
Nina Kizzee and
Taylor East joined her in double-digits with 11 points apiece.
East led all players on the boards with 14 rebounds in the contest.

The Blossoms travel to Ouachita Baptist Thursday, Feb. 25, to battle the Tigers. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
