UAM Tops Tigers in Four Sets

The UAM volleyball team picked up its first road win of the season defeating Ouachita Baptist in four sets Tuesday. The Blossoms tallied 43 kills on 39 assists to take down the Tigers 3-1.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team picked up its first road win of the season defeating Ouachita Baptist in four sets Tuesday. Three different Blossoms recorded double-digit kills in the 3-1 victory.

UAM (3-5, 3-5 GAC) exchanged points early in the first until the Blossoms scored five straight points to take a 14-9 lead. OBU (3-5, 3-5 GAC) responded with three straight points of its own, but the Blossoms came back with four unanswered before taking the set 25-17.

The second set was a different story as the Tigers took the early lead and held off any comeback attempt by UAM winning 25-11.

The Blossom fell behind early in the third set but quickly bounced back taking the lead with a 4-0 run to go up 12-9. UAM finished off the third set on a 5-2 run and win the set 25-23.

UAM jumped out to a quick lead in the fourth and final set of the match scoring seven straight to go up 8-2. The Blossoms put together another 4-0 rally to take an 18-10 lead before holding off the Tigers to take the set 25-10 and win the match 3-1.

Three Blossoms registered double-digit kills as Mikaela Brown led the way with 13 to go with 13 digs. Faith Wilemon and Isabelle Combs followed posting 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Katie Pearson tallied 37 assists on UAM's 43 total kills.

Defensively, Katelyn Richbourg paced the Blossoms with 26 digs. Combs also recorded double-digit digs with 16.

UAM hosts Henderson State at Steelman Field House for Senior Day Tuesday, March 23. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
