UAM Drops Game One at Southeastern

The UAM softball team lost game one of its series at Southeastern Oklahoma State Friday. The Blossoms struggled to string together hits with runners on base falling 1-0 on the road.

DURANT, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team dropped game one of its three-game series against Great American Conference opponent Southeastern Oklahoma State Friday. The Blossoms managed to put runners in scoring position multiple times, but could not drive anyone home falling 1-0 on the road.

UAM drops to 5-8 overall and 5-7 in GAC play following the loss. Southeastern improves to 11-2 on the year and 7-1 in league play.

Katelynn Stamper led off the game with a single for the Blossoms, but was eventually left stranded at third.

Maddie Chalenburg started on the bump for UAM in the bottom of the frame and quickly ran into trouble loading the bases with one out. Southeastern would scratch the lone run of the contest across on a fielder's choice before Chalenburg stranded two on the bases.

Chalenburg settled in after the first inning scattering only three hits over her next five innings of work.

UAM attempted its first rally in the fourth as Bailey Camp and Caroline Tedder each singled to start the frame. However, the next three Blossoms were retired leaving them stranded.

The fifth inning started with the first two hitters reaching for UAM again, but just like the previous inning no one came around to score as the next three hitters failed to pick up a hit.

The Blossom put the tying run on in the sixth inning before leaving the runner stranded at first. UAM could not put together a rally in the final frame going down in order in the seventh to fall 1-0.

Chalenburg (L, 1-4) took the loss after surrendering just one run on five hits in six innings pitched.

Amberlyn Walsworth (W, 6-0) earned the victory for Southeastern dealing seven scoreless innings while striking out five.
