Monticello, Ark. - Each week the Weekly Weevil Write Up takes a closer look at what's in store for the University of Arkansas at Monticello in the coming days.

UAM football hits the road for week two while volleyball takes the court for its home opener this week. Meanwhile, the UAM women's golf team tees off its season in Missouri.

Football

Full Schedule

The Weevils travel to Shawnee, Okla. for their first road contest of the 2021 season. UAM battles Oklahoma Baptist Saturday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.

UAM holds a 3-2 advantage over the Bison in the series with the last road win coming in 2017 when the Weevils rolled past OBU 64-21.

The Weevils coming off a season-opening 30-23 victory at home against Southern Nazarene. Sophomore quarterback Demilon Brown led the way for UAM in the win passing for 334 and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground.

Women's Golf

The UAM women's golf team makes the trip to Blue Springs, Mo. for the Central Region Fall Preview Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 7-8. The tournament will be hosted by the Southwestern Oklahoma State at Adams Point Golf Club.

The Blossoms open the season with several new faces including new head coach Ken Hamilton.

Volleyball

The UAM volleyball team opens its home schedule Tuesday with a match against Mississippi College at 6 p.m.

The Blossoms will then travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the Ray Trasher Memorial Tournament hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University. UAM will play four matches in the event battling Fisk University and Christian Brothers University on Friday, Sept. 10, then Union University and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, Sept. 11.
