MONTICELLO, AR. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team looked good as ever on Saturday night. Falling to Henderson State University in Great American Conference match up. The Weevils held the Reddies to the very end of the match, eventually losing the match, 48-45.
The first half was a full showcase of power for the Weevils. Though the Reddies were the first to score, UAM would regain the lead as the half would continue, continuing to hold that lead until the end of the half. Jabari Sweet knocked down a free throw to give UAM their biggest lead of the half at 9 points. The Weevils would finish out the half with a 28-21 lead heading into the locker room.
On the defensive end in the opening 20 minutes, UAM held the Wonder Boys to just 1-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
Entering the second half, the Weevils would allow HSU to open with an 8-0 run, taking back the lead. The Weevils were quick to push back regain the lead over the Reddies. HSU was far from giving up as the match would continue, majority staying within an at-most 2 point difference between the two. The Reddies would tally the final points of the game as two free throw were made with 0:06 left to play. The Weevils would fall 48-45.
Ray Price led the charge posting 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Defensively, the Weevils registered 5 steals while forcing ATU into 14 turnovers.
