Weevils Drop Close Match With SNU

The UAM Men's Basketball team came up short in their Great American Conference match-up with Southern Nazarene University on Thursday, 53-48

MONTICELLO, AR. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team looked good as ever on Thursday night, unfortunately falling to Southern Nazarene University in a Great American Conference match up. The Weevils held the Storm to the very end of the match, eventually losing 53-48.

The first half started out slow for the Weevils as throughout the half they would slowly fall behind Southern Nazarene. UAM would put up a fight for the remainder of the half, but were never able to take back full control of the match. The Weevils would head to the locker room down 32-14 to the Storm.

The second half started with the Weevils quickly putting up the first 4 points, but SNU was quick to match. The first 10 minutes proved to go UAM's way as they held off the SNU offense, while putting up points of their own. In the end, the Weevils were unable to regain the lead. They would eventually lose to the Storm 53-48, falling to 4-4 in GAC play.

Josh Williams led the charge posting 15 points and 4 rebounds.

Defensively, the Weevils registered seven steals and two blocks while forcing SNU into 14 turnovers.
