ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's basketball team fell in a Great American Conference match-up against Northwest Oklahoma State University on Thursday, 74-61.
The first half was a back and forth battle between the Weevils and the Rangers, with the lead being swapped 11 times. Though NWOSU was the first to score in the match, UAM continued to hold the score close. The Ranger defense proved to be a force as they stopped any momentum that Monticello had. The Weevils were able to put up 33 points throughout the entirety, they still trailed Northwestern Oklahoma 34-33 as the two teams would head into the locker room.
The second half proved to go the Rangers way as they went back and forth with UAM for the remainder of the game. UAM would only put up 28 points compared to the Ranger's 40 points. Even with Monticello having given best efforts, they were unable to take back the lead NWOSU had built. UAM finished out the match with a final score of 74-61.
Richard Feagin Jr. finished as the leading scorer for the Weevils tallying 22 points in the game. Josh Williams also contributed a strong amount, giving the Weevils 16 points of his own.
