Three Blossoms Drop Double Digits in Match-Up With East Central

The UAM Women's Basketball Team Falls to East Central University in their Great American Conference Match-Up on Thursday, 75-53

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's basketball teams played a Great American Conference on Thursday against East Central University. Bailey Harris, Hayley Flores, and Azaria Hulbert each scored double digits for the Blossoms in a strong back and forth game against East Central, before eventually falling 75-53.

The Blossoms were the first to score on a jump shot from Taylor East. UAM would quickly jump ahead in the first quarter, building an 11-6 lead with 4 minutes left in the quarter. The Tigers were quick to score and bring the deficit down as the match went on, but Monticello would pull ahead to finish out the quarter up 15-10.

The second quarter started out very slow, as there was only 14 points scored combined between the two within the first 5 minutes. The Blossoms would hold their lead for most of the quarter, as Bailey Harris and Hayley Flores would give UAM multiple field goals. The Tigers would take back the lead as the half came to a close, and the two teams would head to the locker room scoring a combined 35 points on the quarter, with the overall score, 33-27.

The third and fourth quarters were very similar as both teams came out of the for the second half hungry. The Blossoms struggled to find the net regardless of how many shots they put up, going 5-15 on field goals in the third quarter, and 4-11 in the fourth. The two teams would continue their conference battle, ECU proving to have the match go their way as they would win the game 75-53 and the Blossoms fall to 0-21 on the season with an 0-15 record in conference play.

Defensively, the Blossoms registered 4 steals and forced ECU into 9 turnovers.

UP NEXT

UAM will be back in action Saturday Feb. 12th at Steelman Field House as they take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The game is set to start at 1:00 PM.
