Box Score SHAWNEE, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's basketball teams played a Great American Conference on Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist University. Shania Smith put on a show, scoring double digits for the Blossoms in a strong back and forth game against OkBU, before eventually falling 73-55.
The Blossoms were the first to score on a two-point jump shot from Shania Smith. UAM would lose that lead as the Bison would go on a run, taking a 14-2 lead. Monticello would battle back, but head into the second quarter down to Oklahoma Baptist.
The second quarter turned out strong for the Blossoms as both teams continued throwing up shots. UAM outscored the Bison 17-12 on the quarter, but OkBU would hold their lead as the half came to a close, and the two teams would head to the locker room, with the overall score, 37-27.
The third and fourth quarters were very similar as both teams came out of the for the second half hungry. The Blossoms kept up with Oklahoma Baptist on points,but couldn't seem to pull ahead no matter how many shots they put up. They would go 5-11 on field goals in the third quarter and 4-11 in the fourth. The two teams would continue their conference battle, OkBU proving to have the match go their way as they would win the game 73-55 and the Blossoms fall to 0-24 on the season with an 0-18 record in conference play.
Shania Smith and Bailey Harris each had over 10 points on the night, totaling 19 and 10.
Defensively, the Blossoms registered 3 steals and 5 blocks, forcing OkBU into 9 turnovers.

UAM will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 19th as they travel to Southern Nazarene University for a GAC match-up. The game is set to start at 1:00 PM.
