Blossoms Drop Series with UT-Tyler

TYLER, Tex. – Arkansas-Monticello lost the final two games of their three game series with the University of Texas at Tyler. The first game of day 2 ended with a score of 10-1 loss for the Blossoms and the final match of the series ended in an 8-0 loss for UAM.

In Game 1 the Blossoms came out the gate swinging, bringing in a run in the top of the first thanks to a home run from Grace Neal. UAM would hold on to this lead for an inning an a half. UT-Tyler would score eight runs in the bottom of the third and another two in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler would end up winning the game in 5 innings.

Sam Stephens started on the mound for the Blossoms, only posting 2.2 innings on the day. Stephens gave up 6 runs on 5 hits to the Patriots in her outing, unfortunately walking a batter and taking the loss as well. Alexis Pevehouse entered the game in the bottom of the third, getting 0.0 innings completed, while giving up two runs on two hits. Kyann Woods also came in to pitch in the third inning recording 0.1 innings as well. Maddie Chalenburg finished out the last inning on the mound for UAM, giving up zero hits and zero runs.

In Game 2 UT-Tyler came out of the gate hot, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. They would score one more in the second, two more in the third, and a final run in the sixth. UAM was unable to score any runs of their own in the match, and were limited to only 5 hits.
 
Jamie Franks started the game for UAM, unfortunately taking the loss after only a third of an inning pitched. Averie Gunther would come in to pitch in the first, posting 4.2 innings pitched with 4 runs off seven hits, 2 strike outs, and 2 walks.
 
Showcased Offense
Grace Neal – Went 1-for-2 in Game 1 with a home run.
Madison Morrissey - Went 2-for-3 in Game 2.

On Deck
The Blossoms return to the field on Friday, Feb. 25 for their home opener of the 2022 season, taking on a double header against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The games are set to begin at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
