MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team came out with a loss tonight in their make-up, Great American Conference rival match with Southern Arkansas University, 87-67.

In the first quarter, the Blossoms came out hot, holding the lead for majority of the 10 minutes. Throwing up shot after shot, they came up 5-10 for field goals and 0-2 on three pointers. Through their best efforts, the two teams would head into the second quarter with the Muleriders on top.

The second quarter leaned more towards SAU's way as they outscored the Blossoms 23-12. The UAM offense would put up a fight, but only put in 4-8 field goal attempts on the quarter. The teams would finish the half and head to the locker rooms with SAU still on top.

The third quarter proved to be very similar to the second. UAM was able to put more shots in the air, going 6-12 on field goals and 0-1 on shots beyond the arc.

The fourth quarter showed a massive shift in momentum as UAM turned the tables on the Muleriders, outscoring them by 7 points. The two teams would continue their conference battle, SAU proving to have the match go their way as they would win the game 87-67 and the Blossoms fall to a 0-18 record in conference play.

Trinity McDowell led the charge for the Blossoms, posting 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Madison Weydert, Bailey Harris, and Shania Smith were also all a big part of the UAM offense, putting up 14, 13, and 10 points of their own.

Defensively, the Blossoms registered eight steals and a block while forcing SAU into 16 turnovers.

The Blossoms will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 24th as they travel to Harding University for a Great American Conference match-up. The game is set to begin at 5:30 PM.
