Blossoms Fall on the Road to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's basketball team traveled to Searcy, Arkansas to play a Great American Conference match on Thursday against Harding University, eventually falling 70-42.

The Blossoms were second to score on a three-pointer from Lauren Kleine. Monticello would battle back, but head into the second quarter down to HU.

The second quarter turned out to be very similar to the first as both teams continued throwing up shots. Taylor East would give UAM the first point in the quarter. The Bisons would hold their lead as the half came to a close, and the two teams would head to the locker room, with the overall score, 43-22.

The third and fourth quarters were very similar as both teams came out of the for the second. Monticello would go 3-14 on field goals in the third and 4-17 in the fourth. The two teams would continue their conference battle, Harding University proving to have the match go their way as they would win the game 70-42 and the Blossoms fall to 0-23 on the season with an 0-17 record in conference play.

Chaney Scott led the Blossoms with 10 points on the night.

Defensively, the Blossoms registered 6 steals and 3 blocks, forcing HU into 10 turnovers.

UAM will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 26th as they take on Ouachita Baptist University in their final Great American Conference match-up of the 2021-2022 season. The game is set to start at 2:00 PM.
