ADA, Okla. – Arkansas-Monticello lost the first two games of their three game, conference series with East Central University. The first game of day 2 ended with a 7-0 loss for the Blossoms and the second match of the series ended in a 9-0 loss for UAM.
In Game 1 the Blossoms struggled to find their momentum. They were unable to find more than three hits throughout the entirety of the match. ECU would score 2 runs in the bottom of the third, another 2 in the bottom of the fourth, 1 in the fifth, and a final 2 runs in the sixth. The game would end and East Central would win 7-0.
Sam Stephens started on the mound for the Blossoms, only posting 3.2 innings on the day. Stephens gave up 4 runs on 7 hits to the Tigers in her outing, striking out eight batters.
Maddie Chalenburg finished out the last 2.1 innings on the mound for UAM, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.
Game 2 was very similar to th first as UAM struggled to find any momentum in their offense. The Tigers were able to put up 9 runs throughout the match; Posting 5 runs in the third and four runs in the sixth. The match would end in th sixth inning with a final score of 9-0 going ECU's way.
Jamie Franks started the game for UAM, unfortunately taking the loss after only 2.1 innings pitched.
Maguire Estill entered the game in the third inning, throwing 2.2 innings with 2 runs allowed on 5 hits.
Averie Gunther was the final Blossoms pitcher, posting .2 inning pitched with 4 runs off 5 hits.
On Deck
The Blossoms return to the field on Saturday, Mar. 26 to close out the final game of their GAC series with East Central University. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
