Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team took down Harding University in Game 1 of their three game, GAC series. The Weevils put on a show at the plate, with an impressive outing on the mound from Derek Potts. UAM kept the Bison bats at bay with a shut out win. UAM outscored the Tigers 10-0 to win the match in eight innings.

UAM was the first team on the board, finally scoring their first runs in the four runs in the fifth inning. Hudson Hopkins drove in the the first two runs when he smoked a ball over the scoreboard in right center field, scoring Grant Shepherd along side him. Jordan Johnson ripped a single into right center field to score both Cade Thompson and Nick Fakouri.

The Weevils put four more uns on the board in the seventh inning. Cade Thompson crushed a two-run home run over the right center wall to score Chase Cripps. Reece Reading scored on a single from Hudson Hopkins and Grant Shepherd scored on a passed ball.

The final runs of the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Reece Reading ripped a ball down the right field line to score both Cade Thompson and Chase Cripps.

Arkansas-Monticello would win the game 10-0, increasing their win streak to 8 straight wins.

Pitching Performances
Derek Potts started on the mound, totaling 7.0 scoreless innings pitched with only 3 hits. He stuck out nine batters and had two walks.
Rigell Robinson closed out the last 1.0 inning of the game for the Weevils with no runs allowed and no hits.

Offensive Showcase
Hudson Hopkins - Went 2-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
Cade Thompson - Went 2-for-3 with a home run, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks.
Jordan Johnson - Went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs.

The victory pushes Arkansas-Monticello to 15-13 on the season and 10-9 in GAC play.
