Box Score 2 MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Weevils Baseball team drop the day with Harding University on Saturday afternoon. UAM would fall to the Bisons in a fourteen inning game 1, after an early lead, 10-9. They would also lose the second match 4-1 as the series would come to a close. Harding would win the GAC series 2-1.
Game 1
UAM was the first team to put a run on the board as
Jordan Johnson launched a ball over the green monster in right field.
Cade Thompson would score on the home run as well to give the Weevils an early 2-0 lead.
Harding would find a run of their own in the top of the fourth, but UAM would match them in the bottom half of the inning when
Grant Shepherd scored on a
Nick Fakouri ground ball.
The Weevils scored a run in the fifth inning as
Chase Cripps ripped a solo home run over the left center field wall.
Cade Thompson gave the Weevils a commanding 8-1 lead over Harding in the sixth inning when he ripped a grand slam down the right field line.
The Bisons would go on to score 5 runs in the eighth and 2 runs in the ninth to tie the game at 8 as the Monticello offense was unable to retake the lead, sending the game into extras.
HU put their final two runs on the board in the top of the fourteenth inning to take a 10-8 lead. UAM was only able to put up a single run in the bottom half of the inning as they would fall to the Bisons, 10-9.
Game 2
The Weevils struggled to find some momentum on the offensive side of their game in the second match-up of the day.
Harding was the first to score as they put a run on the board in the second, but UAM would tie it back to 1-1 as
DeShaun Cordova scored on a double steal.
The Bisons scored three runs in the fifth to take the lead for the remainder of the game.
UAM would fall to HU 4-1 in the match.
Pitching Performances
Mason Philley started on the mound in game 1, totaling 7.0 innings pitched with 1 run allowed on 5 hits. He stuck out eight batters and had one walks.
Jacob McDaniel came into the game for 0.1 inning, allowing 4 runs on 2 hits.
Trent Bunting tossed 1.0 inning of his own, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 1 batter.
Rigell Robinson closes out the last 5.2 innings of the game for the Weevils, striking out 8 with 3 runs allowed on 4 hits.
Spencer Johnston started Game 1 and threw a complete game, 7 innings. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 6.

Jordan Johnson - A home run and 2 RBIs.
Chase Cripps - A home run in game 1.
The victory pushes Arkansas-Monticello to 15-15 on the season and 10-11 in GAC play.
