MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello softball team drops Game 1 against Ouachita Baptist University in their weekend, GAC series. The Blossoms fell behind early in the match on Saturday, and were unable to come back against the Tigers, finishing out the game with a final score of 4-2.
The Ouachita Baptist team was the first team to score in the match, putting a run on the board in the top of the first, as well as 3 runs in the top of the fourth.
The Blossoms responded in the bottom half of the fourth when
Maddie Pfleging dropped a two-run nuke over the sponsor board in left center.
Caroline Tedder was the second run to score on the blast, cutting the Ouachita lead down to 4-2.
No other runs were scored in the match, as it would come to a close in after the seventh with the score remaining 4-2.
Pitching Performances
Sam Stephens started in the circle for the Blossoms, posting 2.0 innings on the day. Stephens gave up 1 runs on 4 hits to the Tigers in her outing, striking out 1 batter.
Maguire Estill was the second pitcher on the rubber, throwing 1.1 innings with 2 runs scored.
Jamie Franks only tossed 0.1 inning for UAM as she gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
Alexis Pevehouse saw a total of 0.2 inning in her outing, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs scored.
Averie Gunther tossed the remaining 2.2 innings for UAM, giving up 0 hits and 0 runs. She struck out a batter as well.
The loss on the day drops Arkansas-Monticello to 16-22 on the season and 10-11 in GAC play.

The Blossoms return to the field on Saturday, Apr. 9th as they are back to hot games 2 and 3 of their GAC series with Ouachita Baptist. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Alvy Early Softball Field
