Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello Baseball team splits the day with Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday to close out their GAC weekend series. UAM would win the first game 8-7, and fall in the second match 3-0. The Weevils lose the weekend, GAC series 2-1.
Game 1
UAM was the first to score in Game 1, putting 3 runs on the board in the first inning.
Jordan Johnson launched a ball over the left field wall to score himself and
Chase Cripps and
Reece Reading hit a home run of his own to left field.
The Weevils took a 5-0m lead in the third after scoring two more runs. Johnson singled to score
Chase Cripps and
Cade Thompson scored on a Reading ground ball.
A
Nick Fakouri home run in the fourth gave Monticello a 6-0 lead over the Tigers. OBU responded in the bottom half of the inning with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning.
Cripps scored on a Reading fly ball in the seventh, but Ouachita would tie the game up at 7 in the eighth.
Orlando Arevalo doubled to right field in the eleventh to drive in
Cade Thompson for the final run of the ballgame. UAM would win the match, 8-7.
Game 2
The second match of the day was a low scoring game, as the Weevils were unable to put up a run.
Ouachtita Baptist scored 3 runs in the fourth inning.
The Weevils would eventually fall to the Tigers, 3-0.
Pitching Performance
Mason Philley started on the mound in Game 1, totaling 7.2 innings pitched with 6 runs allowed on 3 hits. He stuck out a season high 13 batters.
Rigell Robinson entered the game in the eighth, throwing 3.1 innings with 1 run allowed on 4 hits.
Spencer Johnston started game 2, dishing out 6.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 4 batters.
The split on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to 16-18 on the season and 11-13 in GAC conference play.
