MONTICELLO, Ark. – This morning, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2022 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region Teams and Regional Players of the Year with Weevils Baseball's
Cade Thompson receiving second team honors in the Central Region. Thompson is one of 8 players from the Great American Conference to appear on either the Central Region's first or second team, and is one of three players from the state of Arkansas to feature on the second team.
A former GAC Rookie of the Year, two-time All-GAC performer, and now a first-time recipient of ABCA All-Central Region, Thompson's junior season as a Weevil has been nothing shy of his best.
After the conclusion of the Weevils' 2022 Great American Conference Tournament run, he closed out the year with a .355 average, ranking 2nd for UAM and twelfth in the GAC. The Texarkana, Texas native places in the top 10 of the GAC in on-base percentage (.474, 7th), hits (66, T10th) doubles (16, T8th) and stolen bases (13, T8th).
