MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team hosted Great American Conference member Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Steelman Field House on Thursday evening. The Blossoms played three total sets, dropping the match to the Bulldogs.
The opening set started with quick lead by the Blossoms over the Bulldogs. Southwestern Oklahoma responded with points of their own, but two big kills from
Campbell Horn kept the blossoms in the lead. Both teams remained neck and neck going into the mid point of the set. UAM was the first to break away from the tie with a three point streak, starting with an ace from
Kerrigan Biggs, followed by a big time kill from
Natalie White. The Bulldogs tied up the set again, but the Blossoms stood their ground and continued to hold the lead going into the back half of the set. SWOSU ended up coming back and regaining the advantage, eventually winning the electric opening set with a final score of 25-21.
Set two began with a quick Bulldog lead over the Blossoms. Arkansas-Monticello kept chipping away at the SWOSU lead, seeing a kill by
Abrielle Jordan and a massive block from
Campbell Horn and
Kerrigan Biggs . The Bulldogs remained in the lead going into the mid point of the set, but the Blossoms weren't giving up.
Alexia Hajdu grabbed a kill to keep the Blossoms in the set. The Bulldogs began to break away from the Blossoms going into the back half of the set, taking the win, 25-11.
The Final set started with quick lead from the Blossoms, followed by the Bulldogs quickly responding with some points of their own. Both teams fighting for control over the set, but the Bulldogs broke away from the Blossoms taking the lead 13-7 going into the mid point of the set. The Blossoms were determined to fight, seeing a stellar defensive play by
Jordan Wehr to give UAM the motivation they needed. SWOSU still held their lead going into the back half of the set, taking it 25-13.
Campbell Horn led the Blossoms in kills with 5 on the night.
Jordan Wehr contributed 10 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by
Stasha Adams with 16 digs on the night.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in action tomorrow, October 20 when they host Great American Conference member Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
