Blossoms Drop Rival Match-Up with Muleriders

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team travel to play in-state Great American Conference rival, Southern Arkansas University, on Tuesday evening. The Blossoms played 3 total sets, dropping the match against the Muleriders 3-0.

The opening set began with a couple quick points by the Blossoms, but the Muleriders would tie the game up. Both teams continued to battle back and forth throughout the first half of the set, looking to gain control over the other team. Southern Arkansas was the first to break out, gaining a four point lead over UAM heading into the mid-point of the set. The Muleriders remained in control throughout the rest of the set, eventually winning 25-14.

Set two once again saw another early lead by the Blossoms, but SAU climbed their way back to a tie game. A big time kill from Abrielle Jordan kept the Blossoms ahead of the Muleriders as they tried to expand the lead. Southern Arkansas responded with six straight points, giving them the lead over Arkansas-Monticello. Both teams exchanged points back and forth throughout the rest of the set. Unfortunately, the Blossoms could not lessen the Muleriders lead, dropping set two, 25-16.

The Blossoms started off with a third straight set in the lead, but the Muleriders once again reclaimed the lead. The Muleriders remained in control for majority of the set, seeing a 12-point streak grow their lead tremendously. The Muleriders ended up winning set three 25-10 and the match, 3-0.

Natalie White led the Blossoms in kills with 6 on the night.

Jordan Wehr contributed 10 assists in the match.

Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Stasha Adams with 13 digs on the night.
