Weevils Leave Arkadelphia with a Loss to the Reddies

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team traveled to Henderson State on Saturday afternoon to take on the Reddies. The Weevils came out with a 90-59 loss.

Isaac Jackson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (1-5) with 23 points, going 11-26 on total field goals and 1-5 from the three point line. He also contributed four total rebounds on top of an assist in his 34 minutes played.

Cole Anderson contributed 10 points of his own throughout the game, hitting 3-3 on field goals and went 4-6 on free throws with three rebounds and one block.
 
Henderson state was led by Clarence King and Zyon Patterson with 24 and 22 points, respectfully.

The Reddies scored the first points of the game on a layup to take an early lead. The Weevils struggled to find momentum throughout the opening of the half, but saw a glimpse of the fight through a pair of layups from Cole Anderson to keep them in the running. UAM was unable to retain the advantage, seeing HSU take control away at the 16:17 mark. The Boll Weevils shot for 33% in the first half, hitting 8-24 field goals, compared the the Reddies' 13-36. The teams would head to the locker rooms with HSU on top, 51-25.

The second 20 minutes saw another aggressive display of basketball between the two teams, with 73 points scored between them. Cole Anderson scored the first basket of the half, reducing the Reddie lead to 25. Henderson held control for the rest of the half keeping their lead of 30 for most of the half. Arkansas-Monticello saw their final points of the game when Timur Krupalija scored a layup with 32 seconds left on the clock. Although UAM outperformed HSU in three point percentage, hitting 30% compared to the Reddies' 10%, the visiting team out shot UAM with 36 total field goals. The Boll Weevils would conclude the game with a 90-59 loss to Henderson state University.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

 
UP NEXT
The Weevils return home to Steelman Fieldhouse Monday, Dec. 4 to compete in a non conference match up against Langston University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
