Blossoms Drop Road Match at Harding

SEARCY, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team traveled to Searcy, Arkansas to take on in-state, Great American Conference member Harding University on Tuesday evening. The Blossoms played three total sets in the match, taking the loss to the Bisons.

The Bisons struck first in the opening set of the match, scoring the first point and proceeding to take a 7-2 lead over the Blossoms. Three points from UAM brought the visiting team within two points before Harding would go on a dominant 8-1 run, extending their lead to 15-6. The visiting Blossoms strung together a few points, but would eventually drop set one, 25-11.

Set two began with Harding once again taking an early 7-2 lead over Arkansas-Monticello, followed by three points from UAM to make it a 7-5 game. After getting within one of the Bisons, UAM saw HU score eight straight points, increasing the deficit to 19-9. Through grit, the Blossoms found a spark of brilliance in their offense, out-playing Harding and bringing the score to 23-19. Unfortunately, the effort wasn't enough as the Bisons would close out the set with a 25-20 win.

Arkansas-Monticello took a 2-1 advantage to start the third set, holding on to the lead as the match continued. A 6-0 run from Harding put the Bisons back on top. The Blossoms were unable to reclaim the lead and would eventually drop the set with a final score of 25-15. UAM would fall 3-0 on the night.

Abrielle Jordan led the Blossoms in kills with 5 on the night.

Jordan Wehr contributed 11 assists in the match, followed by Bruna Silva with 10 assists of her own.

Defensively, the Blossoms were once again led by Stasha Adams, collecting 12 digs on the night. Jasmine Welton followed close behind with 10 of her own.
