Men's Basketball Drop Match-Up to Southeastern, 85-69

DURANT, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball continued on with conference play on Saturday when they traveled to Durant, Oklahoma to take on out-of-state conference member Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The Weevils came out with an 85-69 loss to the Savage Storm.

Zane Nelson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (5-8, 3-5 GAC) with 24 points, going 7-15 on total field goals, 1-6 from beyond the three point line, and 9-10 from the line. He also contributed five defensive rebounds on top of four four steals and two assists in his 40 minutes.

Isaac Jackson followed close behind, posting 23 points of his own for the Boll Weevils in Saturday's game. Jackson hit 10-13 total field goals, 2-2 threes, and 1-2 shots from the line while grabbing four defensive rebounds on the evening and having two assists.
 
Southeastern Oklahoma was led by Brennen Burns with 33 points.

The Weevils kicked off the first half with nine straight points to take a 9-0 lead over the Storm. A three from Isaac Jackson with eight minutes remaining gave Monticello a 16 point advantage for its biggest lead of the game. As the game slowly approached half time, Southeastern dug their way back to a seven point deficit. The teams went to the locker room with UAM leading, 38-31.

Southeastern came out of the break with a fire underneath them, flipping the momentum of the first half and outscoring Monticello, 54-31. After increasing their lead to 45-31, three minutes into the half, the Storm would tie the game at 47-47. The match would continue and unfortunately come to a close with an 85-69 loss for UAM.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 24 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

 
UP NEXT
The Weevils return to conference play at home on Thursday, Jan. 18 when they host Oklahoma Baptist University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
