MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball continued on with conference play on Thursday afternoon when they hosted out-of-state conference member Oklahoma Baptist University. The Weevils came out with an 59-57 victory over the Bison.

Zane Nelson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (6-8, 4-5 GAC) with 23 points, going 6-16 on total field goals, 3-6 from beyond-the-arc, and 8-9 from the line. He also contributed seven defensive and one offensive, for a team-leading eight rebounds, and three assists in his 40 minutes of play.

Isaac Jackson followed close behind, posting 21 points of his own for the Boll Weevils. Jackson hit 8-16 total field goals, 4-7 threes, and 1-2 shots from the line while grabbing three defensive rebounds and dishing out one assist on the evening.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (7-8, 4-5 GAC) was led by Terry Coner Jr. with 22 points.

The Weevils kicked off the first half with a three from Isaac Jackson. The Bison held control for the entire first half, but the Weevils stayed within reach of the lead throughout the entirety of the opening 20 minutes. The teams went to the locker room with OBU leading, 35-26.

The second half was all about a comeback for the Weevils as they continued to scratch away at the Bisons lead. The Weevils tied up the game in the final three minutes of the half with a free throw from Zane Nelson. The remainder of the half was an intense fight to the final seconds. The Weevils rally concluded with a 59-57 victory over the Bison.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 7 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to conference play at Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they host Southern Nazarene University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 p.m.
