MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team closed out the weekend with a home game against Auburn University Montgomery. The Blossoms came out of the match-up with a 69-60 win to the Warhawks.
Newcomer Camille Pritchard led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (3-1) with 15 points in the match-up. Pritchard hit 5-13 field goals on the day and 5-5 free throws. She also contributed nine total rebounds in her 27 minutes played, with six defensive and three offensive. Pritchard also grabbed a steal and two assists in the game.
Bailey Harris followed close behind in double-digits on the afternoon, posting 14 points of her own. Harris went 5-12 on field goals and 2-4 on threes with five rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Kelsey Blakemore, Alindsey Long, and Haleigh Crews were the final Blossoms with ten or more points in the game, scoring 13, 12, and 11, respectively. Blakemore was 3-8 on the night in field goals, with a shot from beyond the arc and six free throws. She also led the team in rebounds with eleven. Long gave a 5-14 performance, hitting a three and going 1-1 from the line, while grabbing three steals. Crews went 4-9 on field goals and 1-2 on threes with two rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Auburn University Montgomery (0-3) was led by
Allasha Dudley with 18 points.
The Warhawks were the first team on the board, taking an early 6-0 lead over UAM.
Bailey Harris broke the dry spell on a jumper to give the Blossoms two of their 15 points on the quarter. Monticello was outscored in the second 10-minute period, trailing 27-25 heading to the locker rooms.
UAM came out of the locker room totally inspired, building off each of their offensive attacks throughout the third period. The Blossoms shattered the defense of the Warhawks, outscoring Auburn-Montgomery 23 points to 13 in the period. The teams entered the fourth with the Blossoms leading 48-40. The Blossoms held on to the lead for the remainder of the match-up, eventually taking the victory with a final score of 69-60.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 10 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
