MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team started the week with a Monday night home game against Mission University. The Blossoms came out of the match-up with a 91-76 win to the Lady Patriots.
Bailey Harris led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (4-1) with 25 points in the match-up. Harris hit 9-21 field goals on the day, 5-5 free throws, and two three-pointers. She also contributed ten total rebounds in her 30 minutes played, with seven defensive and three offensive. Harris also grabbed an assist in the game. Her 25 points fall two points shy of setting a new career best with the Blossoms.
Alyssa Batton followed close behind on the afternoon, posting 16 points of her own. Batton went 3-5 on field goals and 9-10 on free throws with two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Camille Pritchard and
Alindsey Long were the final Blossoms in double-digits, each with 10 points in the game. Pritchard was 3-6 on the night in field goals, 4-4 on free throws, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Long gave a 4-14 performance and went 2-6 from beyond the arc while grabbing two assists and four steals.
Mission University (3-2) was led by
Heaven Shockley with 20 points.
The first quarter began with the Blossoms hitting the first shot of the game on a three-pointer by
Bailey Harris, but the Lady Patriots responded on the next possession with a three. After seeing the lead change three times, the Blossoms trailed the Lady Patriots for the remainder of the quarter. The teams would head into the second quarter with the Lady Patriots on top, 25-18. The Blossoms prevailed in quarter two, out-scoring the Lady Patriots 22-14.
Bailey Harris put UAM back within one after hitting a three. The teams would finish the half and head to the locker rooms with the home team leading, 40-39.
Arkansas-Monticello once again outscored Mission University in the third quarter. The Blossoms posted 23 points to the Lady Patriot's 17. The teams entered the fourth with the Blossoms leading 63-56. The fourth quarter proved to be the highest-scoring of the game, with a combined total of 48 points between the two. The Blossoms held onto the lead for the remainder of the match-up, seeing a game-high lead of 17 points. The match-up eventually came to a close with the Blossoms on top, 91-76. The Blossoms improve their home record to 3-0 on the year.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 14 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
