MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team dropped to 0-4 in GAC play after dropping the final home game of 2024 to Ouachita Baptist, 61-58.
Leading Arkansas-Monticello (3-7, 0-4 GAC) with 14 points on the night was
Noah Thomas. Thomas hit 5-8 field goals, 2-4 shots from three-point range, and 2-4 from the free throw line while grabbing two rebounds and two assists.
Next up for the Boll Weevils in double digits was
Devin Davis, posting 13 on the evening. Davis was 5-9 on field goals and 3-3 from the free throw line. He also contributed three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Ouachita Baptist (6-4, 1-3 GAC) was led by
Hobert Grayson with 29 points.
The first half of the game was primarily led by the Tiger offense, striking first to take a quick 7-0 lead. The Tigers increased their lead to a game-high 12 points with 10:14 left on the clock but saw the Weevils fight back, decreasing it to three, as both teams headed to the locker room with the Tigers leading 24-21.
The second 20-minute period proved an even match as both teams scored 37 points. The teams would see back-and-forth baskets, causing six different lead changes throughout the period. Ouachita Baptist prevailed in the end, eventually taking a 61-58 win over Monticello.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
