MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello's Women's Basketball team kicks off Great American Conference play this Tuesday and Thursday in Oklahoma. The Cotton Blossoms will first take on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University on Tuesday, Dec. 3 inside the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla., before traveling to Shawnee, Okla. for a Thursday, Dec. 5, match-up vs the Bison inside the Noble Complex. Both games are currently slated for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

"We will be tested this week for sure," said Head Coach David Midlick. "SNU and OBU are well coached and talented. They were both picked in the top 3 and will provide a variety of challenges on both ends of the court."

LAST MEETING
Southern Nazarene University - The Crimson Storm were the winners of the last meet-up in February of 2024 in Bethany, Okla. winning 63-51. Haleigh Crews was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello with 14 points, going 4-12 on total field goals and 6-6 on shots from the free throw line. She also contributed seven defensive rebounds, two assists, and a steal in her 34 minutes. Bailey Harris followed close behind, posting 12 points of her own in the game. She hit 5-14 field goals and 2-4 free throws, while giving the Blossoms a block, rebound, steal, and assist. Azaria Hulbert was the final Blossoms in double digits, scoring 11 points against the Crimson Storm. Hulbert hit 4-8 field goals, 2-5 three-pointers, and 1-2 shots from the line with one rebound and one assist.

Oklahoma Baptist University - The Bison took the victory the last time out taking down the Blossoms by 1 point, 60-61, in February of 2024. Haleigh Crews was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello) with 13 points, going 4-10 on total field goals, 1-4 on threes, and 4-4 on shots from the free throw line. Also contributed to four assists and a block in her 35 minutes. Alyssia Thorne followed close behind, posting 12 points of her own. She hit 4-7 field goals and 1-2 three-pointers while being the defensive heart of the team with eight rebounds, three assists, one block, and three steals. Bailey Harris and Azaria Hulbert were the final Blossoms in double digits, scoring 11 and 10 points against the Bison, respectfully. Harris hit 4-14 field goals and 1-4 three-pointers with five rebounds, and three assists. Hulbert hit 3-3 field goals, 2-2 on field goals, and 2-2 from the line with two rebounds and two steals.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southern Nazarene University - SNU currently leads UAM with a 9-14 overall recorded. The two teams first contested each other in 1992 at the Sugar Bear Classic taking away the first win between the two, 98-84. The first GAC match took place on January 10, 2023, with a 52-61 loss. The largest margin of victory came in Feb. 2016 with a final score of 84-67. At home, the Blossoms have a 6-5 record, while on the road they are 2-9. The green and white have averaged 61.26 points per game with a total of 1,409 points in 19 games played.

Oklahoma Baptist University - The Bison currently holds the winning advantage over the Blossoms with an overall record of 8-11. OBU and UAM played each other three times in neutral locations in 1981, 84, and 98 with UAM taking two of the three. The first GAC game was a 54-59 loss on Jan. 9, 2016. The largest margin of victory came on Jan. 25, 2020, with an 80-30 win against the Bison. The Blossoms are averaging 67.68 points per game, with 1,286 points in 23 games played.
