The first half of the game proved to be dominated by the home team throughout its entirety. The Weevils took the first points, holding the lead until the 16:59 mark when the Reddies tied the score at 5-5. UAM's Zane Nelson put the home team back on top with a three and held on to that advantage for the remainder of the half. The teams would head to the locker room with UAM on top, 38-28.

The second 20 minutes saw another aggressive display of basketball between the two teams, with 75 points scored between them. Arkansas-Monticello held on to the lead for majority of the half, seeing Henderson State climb their way back to a 54-54 game with 7:27 left on the clock, but Timur Krupalija's hook shot put the Boll Weevils back on top. The Weevils held on to the lead for the remainder of the half, eventually taking the win, 74-67.
