DURANT, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team traveled to Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Friday for game one of their three game conference series. The Boll Weevils came out of game one with a 10-9 win over the Savage Storm.

Scoring Recap:
Parker Dorrance drove in a run in the second to put the Weevils on the board, but two home runs in the bottom half of the inning for Southeastern gave the Storm the lead.

Monticello saw a second run in the third on a SAC fly from Cade Cancilla. The Storm once again responded with two more runs.

Roc Hawthorne launched a solo shot over the left center wall in the fourth, followed by a three-run shot int he fifth from Chaz Poppy to give UAM a 6-4 lead.

The seventh inning saw Aidan Garrett drive in a run on a single, Hawthorne drove in two on a double, and Poppy scored a final run on a single.

Southeastern Oklahoma hit three home runs between the eighth and ninth innings to make it a 10-9 game. The effort would prove not enough as the game would end with a 10-9 victory of UAM.

The win on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 6-5, 4-0 GAC start to the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in action tomorrow when they take on Southeastern Oklahoma in a doubleheader to close out the opening weekend of GAC play. First pitch is set for noon.
