SHAWNEE, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball continued with conference play on Saturday afternoon when they traveled to face off against conference member Oklahoma Baptist University. The Weevils came out with a 66-61 loss to the Bison.
Zane Nelson and Issac Jackson both led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (11-14, 9-11 GAC) with 16 points for both of them. Nelson going 5-15 on total field goals and 2-7 from beyond-the-arc, while also contributed five assists in his 38 minutes of play.
Isaac Jackson, hitting 6-16 field goals, 2-6 threes, and 2-4 free throws with four rebounds and an assist.
They were followed closely by
Timur Krupalija who contributed 11 points of is own going 4-6 on field goals and 3-4 from the line. He also contributed three rebounds, one assist, one block, and three steals in his 23 minutes on the court.
Oklahoma Baptist (11-15, 8-12 GAC) was led by
Daniel Ransom with 17 points.
The first half of the game saw an aggressive display of basketball between the two teams, with 59 points scored between them. For the entirety of the quarter, the teams would continue to trade points back and forth and the score remained close the whole time. The score going into the second half had Arkansas-Monticello behind Oklahoma Baptist, 24-35.
The second 20 minutes once again remained close as The weevil's fought to overcome their deficit, seeing the lead reduced to 2 points at one point in time. After the hard fought half the weevils ended up falling short by just five points at 61-66.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 10 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to action on Thursday, Feb. 29th when they face off against conference member Harding University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
