ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team traveled to Ouachita Baptist University on Friday afternoon for game one of their three game conference series. The Boll Weevils came out of game one with a 4-3 victory over the Tigers.

Scoring Recap:
Game one of the series opened with the Weevils being the first on the board, seeing Camden Tanner cross the plate on a bases loaded walk.

Neither team scored again until the top of the sixth inning, when Roc Hawthrone drove in a run on a triple down the right field line to increase the Weevil lead to 2-0. A SAC fly from Chaz Poppy would bring another run home for UAM, as they would go to the bottom of the sixth leading over the Tigers 3-0. Ouachita found their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, making it a 3-1 game. 

The Tigers tied up the game in the ninth with a two-run home run over the left field wall, sending the game into extra innings. 

Nelson Mercado came in to pitch for the Weevils in the bottom of the tenth, and kept the Tigers scoreless through the twelfth inning. The Weevils would come up the plate in the thirteenth inning and score making the game 4-3, after a dropped fly ball to center field. The Tigers were unable to respond.

The win on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 9-5, 7-0 GAC to the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in action tomorrow when they take on Ouachita Baptist in a doubleheader to close out the series. First pitch is set for noon with the second game to follow.
