MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team opened up their weekend with a series with Harding University with a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Weevils came out with a 13-2 run-rule win in game one, followed by a 3-1 victory in game two over the Bisons to claim a series win.

Scoring Recap:
The Boll Weevils struck first in game one, scoring the opening run on a throw down from the catcher in the third.

Chaz Poppy drove in runs two and three in the fourth on a drive over the left center wall, scoring Camden Tanner on the blast.

Harding grabbed one back in the top of the fifth, touching home on a solo shot over the batter's eye in center.

After doubling down the left field line, Will Owens was brought across the plate on a bases loaded hit by pitch for Tanner. Chaz Poppy launched his second home run of the day to left field, clearing the bases and scoring four for UAM to increase the lead to 8-1.

The Bisons drove in another run in the sixth on an RBI double to left field, cutting the Monticello lead to six.

Tanner drove in Kirk Woolf on a double in the seventh, followed by an RBI single from Chaz Poppy to extend the Boll Weevil lead to 10-2. Brodie Romero capped off the run-rule with a home run over the center field wall, resulting in a 13-2 win for UAM.

Scoring Recap:
Monticello once again scored first in game two, seeing one run cross the plate in the second on an RBI double from Noah Estrem.

Estrem Drove in a second run in game two with a solo home run to right center. DeShaun Cordova drove in Will Owens for UAM's third on the game.

Harding got a run back in the seventh, scoring on an RBI double to center. The effort would prove not enough as UAM took the win to claim a series win.

Today's games bring Arkansas-Monticello to a 11-8, 9-2 GAC record for the 2024 season.
