Softball Closes Senior Weekend with a Series Win Over NWOSU

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team closed out their conference series against Northwestern State University on Sunday afternoon. The Blossoms came out of senior weekend with a 5-4 victory over the Rangers in game three to take the conference series 2-1.

Scoring Recap:
Game three of the conference series started off with the Rangers taking a 2-0 lead within the first three innings. The Blossoms finally responded in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from Emily Cecil to cut the Rangers lead in half 2-1.

UAM saw another run cross the plate when Kennedy Cox brought home Emmy Apodaca on a SAC fly to center field, tying the game 2-2.

NWOSU took the lead once again after a solo home run in the top of the fourth.

A single to the short stop from Grace Neal plated another run for the Blossoms to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth. Monticello took the lead in the sixth after an RBI double from Courtnee Sensibaugh brought Kayla Richardson across the plate.

Another solo home run from the Rangers in the top of the seventh tied up the game once again, bringing the Blossoms back to the plate in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on second, Kennedy Cox singled down the right field line to bring Adrianna Erichsen in to score in walk-off fashion. 

The win pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 21-23, 13-13 GAC record for the 2024 season.

The Blossoms are back in action Tuesday, April 16 as they host Southern Arkansas University for a make-up conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. with the second game to follow.
