UAM Baseball Travel to Central Missouri for Super Regional

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The 2024 Great American Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champion Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevil baseball team is heading to Warrensburg, Missouri for the NCAA DII Central Region Super Regional. UAM will take on the Mules in a best-of-3 series to decide who will represent the region in the 2024 NCAA DII College World Series.

For the first time since the 2019 season, the Boll Weevils earned a selection to the Central Region Tournament. UAM saw its first regional birth in 2014, dropping games to rival Southern Arkansas and Augustana to close out the season. Monticello reached the finals for the first time in the 2016 season, where they competed against this weekend's opponent, Central Missouri. UAM would drop the contest with the Mules, 7-4, but close the season with the program's first 40-win season. This is UAM's first Super Regional appearance in program history, as the NCAA implemented the Regional/Super Regional split to Division II baseball in 2019.

"We are extremely excited for our baseball team making it to Super Regional for the first time in school history," said UAM Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Hud Jackson. "Coach Harvey has done a great job of building an unbelievable baseball program here that continues to make big jumps on the national scene. We are so grateful to his staff, the players, and how they represent our university and Southeast Arkansas, and now the entire state of Arkansas. Go Weevils!"

Arkansas-Monticello has battled the Mules on seven separate occasions, trailing UCM in the all-time series two wins to five. The last meeting occurred in 2022 when the teams met at the Houston Astros Winter Invitational, which Central Missouri also hosts. The Boll Weevils came out of the contest with a 9-4 loss.

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), released the latest NCA Division II Coaches Poll on Monday, voting UAM as the #16 team in the country and UCM as the #2.
