MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Golf team is in 15th place after the first day of the 2024 NSU Men's Classic on Monday, Sept. 16, at Muskogee Country Club.
The Weevils shot a two-round combined score of 587, 19-over par. Fellow GAC member Henderson State finished atop the leaderboard after day one at 13-under par (555).
Sophomore
Chase Kisver led the Boll Weevils on day one, tied for 21st place at even par (142). Kisver posted a first-round 67 (-4), followed by a second round of 75 (+4).
Senior
Owen Page shot a first round of 69 (-2), before posting a second round of 75 (+4), to finish day one tied for, 29th, at 2-over par (144).
Incoming freshman
Connor Whitworth finished tied for 73rd at 8-over par (150), after firing a first round of 74 (+3), and 5-over par (76) in the second round.
Closing out the Weevils on day one; junior
Daniel Taylor and incoming freshman
Landry Rogers finished tied for 79th. Taylor shot 5-over par in both rounds to finish 10-over par (152), while Rogers shot 4-over par (75) in round one and 6-over (76) in round two, to finish 10-over par as well.
The Boll Weevils combined for 25 birdies for the day, 15 in round one and 10 in round 2. Owen, Connor, Daniel, and Landry all recorded a birdie on hole 9 during round one.
The Weevils will play their final round of the tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
