WEST POINT, Miss. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Golf team finished in 9th place after the first day of the Dunning Invitational, hosted by Delta State on Monday, Sept. 23, at Mossy Oak Golf Club.

The Weevils shot a two-round combined score of 611, 35-over par. Fellow GAC member Henderson State finished just ahead of Arkansas-Monticello in eighth place after day one, scoring  598 (+22).

Freshman Landry Rogers, competing individually, led the day for the Boll Weevils, firing a first-round score of 5-over par (77), before posting 4-under par (68) in the second round to finish tied for eleventh at 1-over par (145) 

Senior Owen Page finished the day tied for 33rd with a combined score of 151 (+7), after shooting a first round of 4-over par (76), followed by a second round of 75 (+3).

Junior Daniel Taylor fired a first round of 73 (+1), before posting a second-round score of 79 (+7), to finish the day with an overall score of 152 (+8), tying for 38. 

Sophomore Chase Kisver finished 11-over par (155) tied for 49 after two rounds. Kisver shot even-par (72) in round one, before scoring 83 (+11) in the second round. 

Closing out the Weevils on day one; are Senior Aidan Rooke and freshman Carson Slaughter. Rooke finished tied for 58th at 14-over par (158), after posting a score of 6-over par (78) in round one, and 8-over par (80) in round two. While Slaughter finished the first day tied for 62nd after firing a round one score of 83 (+11) and posting a second-round score of 6-over par (78), to finish with a combined score of 161 (+17).

The Boll Weevils combined for 30 birdies on the day, 16 in round one and 14 in round two. Page, Taylor, Kisver, and Rooke all recorded a birdie on hole 13 during round one. While Page and Rogers each recorded an eagle in the second round, Page on hole 10 (a par 4) and Rogers on hole 17 (a par 5).

The Weevils are back on the greens Tuesday, Sept. 24, as they compete in the third and final round of the Dunning Invitational from the Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
