HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello Men's Golf finished in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Battle for the Belt Tournament hosted by Henderson State University at the Hot Springs Country Club (Arlington Course), on Monday evening.
Through day one the Weevils shot a combined score of 11-over par (587). Battle for the Belt host Henderson State University currently sits on top of the leaderboard with a combined score of 13-under par (563). At the same time, fellow GAC schools Arkansas Tech and conference rival Southern Arkansas have placed second and fourth.
The Boll Weevils were led by Sophomore
Chase Kisver and Senior
Owen Page tying for 15th at even par (144). Kisver and Page both shot even (72) in each round.
Senior
Aidan Rooke fired a round one score of 5-over par (77), before scoring 1-under par (71) in his second round. Rooke finished the day tied at 36th place with a final two round total of 148 (+4).
Freshman
Carson Slaughter, competing individually, finished the day tied at 43, 6-over par (150). Slaughter shot a first round of 77 (+5), before firing even (72) in his final round.
Junior
Daniel Taylor shot 2-over par (74) in his first round of the day, before recording a second-round score of 77 (+5), to finish tied for 49th at 151 (+7).
Competing individually, Sophomore
Sawyor Hamilton, shot 78 (+6) in round one and 77 (+5) in round two, to finish tied for 58th with a combined two-round total of 155 (+11)
Freshman
Landry Rogers finished the first day of the tournament in 74th, 21-over par (165). Rogers scored 87 (+15) in round one, before firing a second round of 6-over par (78).
Junior
Hunter Edwards, competing individually, finished out the day for the Weevils tied for 81st, 40-over par (184). Edwards scored and 89 (+17) in round one and a 95 (+23) in round two.
Combined for the day UAM recorded 28 birdies over the course of 36 holes. Kisver and Page led the day with 9 birdies each.
The Weevils are back on the greens tomorrow, Oct. 1, as they compete in the final round of the Battle for the Belt Tournament from the Hot Springs Country Club (Arlington Course) in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
