MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team continued on with conference play on Saturday when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The Weevils came out with a 62-58 loss to the Savage Storm.
Leading Arkansas-Monticello (4-10, 1-7 GAC) with 19 points in the game was
Seth Grandberry. Grandberry hit 8-17 field goals and 3-6 shots from three-point range while grabbing six defensive rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Jamir Turner was the other Boll Weevil with double-digits, scoring 14 on the afternoon. Turner was 5-8 on field goals and 4-7 on free throws with ten rebounds, one assist, and one block.
Southeastern Oklahoma (4-10, 2-6 GAC) was led by
Daniel Halldorsson with 16 points.
The first half of the game opened with a jumper from
Alex Brogdon, but the Storm answered back on the next possession. Both teams would see back-and-forth baskets throughout the remainder of the period. Arkansas-Monticello prevailed in the end, with both teams heading to the locker room with the Weevils leading 32-29.
The second 20-minute period was again a battle throughout its entirety, seeing five different lead changes throughout the period. After a heartbreaking final minute of play, the match-up would conclude with a 62-58 loss for UAM.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 10 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to action on Thursday, January 16, when they travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State University to continue Great American Conference play. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
