MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team is set to take on out-of-state foes in western Oklahoma this week. The Cotton Blossoms will start the week in Alva, Oklahoma on Thursday, January 16 at 5:30 p.m. taking on the Lady Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, before traveling to Weatherford, Oklahoma, and taking on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 1:00 p.m.

"Two well coached and talented teams that have multiple offensive options but play contrasting styles on defense," said Head Coach David Midlick. "We will have to get better this week at what we can control to be ready to compete against these two opponents."

LAST MEETING
Northwestern Oklahoma State University - The Blossoms fell to the Lady Rangers, 52-75, in the last meeting that took place in Alva. Azaria Hulbert was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello with 13 points, going 4-7 on total field goals, 2-4 on threes, and 3-5 on shots from the free throw line. Hulbert also contributed two rebounds, a steal, and an assist in her 19 minutes. Arkansas-Monticello committed 15 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University - UAM came up short in Weatherford in February falling to the Bulldogs, 53-59. Bailey Harris was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello with 16 points, going 6-13 on total field goals, 1-4 on threes, and 3-4 on shots from the free throw line. Harris was tied for rebounds, grabbing two offensive and five defensive on the afternoon, while also contributing two steals in her 38 minutes. Alindsey Long and Alyssia Thorne were the final Blossoms to score over 10 points in the game. Long also went 6-13 with field goals while also giving the Blossoms an assist and steal in her 37 minutes. Thorne hit 4-6 field goals and 3-4 free throws, while also giving the Blossoms seven defensive rebounds on top of an assist and two steals in her 28 minutes. Arkansas-Monticello committed 20 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Northwestern Oklahoma State University - The Cotton Blossoms trail the Lady Rangers in the record, 11-13, dating back to the first match-up in March of 1978. UAM and NWOSU met two times before joining the GAC, with the Blossoms taking both wins on the road in neutral-site games. The first GAC game would be taken by the Lady Rangers, however, 46-63. The Cotton Blossoms hold a 7-4 record at home in Monticello, with a 2-9 record on the road in Alva. The largest margin of victory for the ladies in green and white came in December of 2015, beating NWOSU, 81-62. Through 24 games played the Blossoms are averaging 64.12 points on 1,539 points scored. 

Southwestern Oklahoma State University - The Bulldogs hold a strong advantage in the overall record leading UAM, 26-5. This record dates back to the first meeting on November 11, 1987. The Blossoms played six neutral site games against the Bulldogs, before the first GAC match in January of 2012, dropping every match. The first of the wins for UAM came in December of 2015 when the Blossoms beat the Bulldogs by three points, 74-71. The Blossoms are averaging 65.39 points per game, on 2,027 points through 31 games played.
