WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball continued with conference play on Saturday afternoon when they traveled to compete against out of state conference member Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The Weevils came out with a 71-63 loss to the Bulldogs.
Leading Arkansas-Monticello (4-12, 1-9 GAC) again with 26 points in the game was
Seth Grandberry. Grandberry hit 10-21 field goals and 5-13 shots from three-point range while grabbing four defensive rebounds, and two assist.
Jamie Turner was the other Boll Weevil with double-digits, scoring 14 on the afternoon. Turner was 5-10 on field goals and 4-5 on free throws with 10 rebounds, and one assist.
Southwestern Oklahoma (8-7, 5-5 GAC) was led by
Denali Alexander with 16 points.
SWOSU took a quick lead 14 seconds into the game, 2-0. The Weevils would see themselves on the board with two from
Alex Brogdon. Both sides of the court would see back and fourth baskets throughout the remainder of the period, tied 29-29 with less then 3 minutes to play. The Weevils would enter the half on top after seven unanswered, 36-29.
The second 20-minute saw the Weevils struggle to the power of the Bulldogs. UAM managed to hold off SWOSU for four minutes, however the Bulldogs would take the lead and not look back for the remainder of the game. SWOSU would take the match by eight points, 71-63.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 10 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils will return to the court Thursday, January 23, in Magnolia, Arkansas when they take on Southern Arkansas University. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
