WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma to take on Great American Conference member Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms came out of the contest with an 63-48 loss to the Bulldogs.
Bailey Harris once again led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (8-8, 3-7 GAC), scoring 17 points in the match-up. Harris hit 8-21 field goals on the day, 1-3, and 1-2 free throws. She also contributed four rebounds in her 36 minutes played, with three defensive and one offensive.
Alyssa Batton and
Camille Pritchard both followed on the afternoon, posting 8points of her own. Batton went 2-5 on field goals, 2-3 on three-pointers, and 2-4 on free throws with two rebounds. Pritchard went 3-5 of field goals, and 1-2 on both three-pointers and free throws, with five defensive rebounds.
Southwestern Oklahoma (9-7, 5-5 GAC)
was led by
Layni Zinn with 16 points.
The Bulldogs won the opening quater, outscoring the Blossoms 14-12. The Blossoms fought back in the second quater but couldn't hold onto the Bulldogs offense dropping the second quater, 20-12. UAM would head into halftime down 10, 24-34.
Coming out of the locker room the defensive of both teams held the game scoreless, until the Blossoms broke the stalemate with 2, with 7 minutes 53 seconds remaining. However the Bulldogs pushed forward again in the third, taking the lead by 13 points. The Blossoms fought hard in the fourth quater, unfortunately SWOSU would take the match by 15, 63-48.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 11 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms will play another conference game on Thursday, January 23. They will travel to Southern Arkansas University, and the game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
