Tanner, Mercado, and Woolf selected as Preseason All-Americans by DII Baseball

MONTICELLO, Ark. - Three players on the UAM Baseball team were selected as a Preseason All-American by DII Baseball on Friday afternoon. The organization released its first, second, and third team selections for the 2025 season, including a Boll Weevil on each.

To be under consideration for the Preseason All-American teams for DII baseball, you must be a returning player from a DII school. Players coming from the DI or NAIA level are not considered.

Camden Tanner was selected as a Preseason first-team All-American. He returns to UAM after a historic freshman season in which he earned All-American honors from NCBWA (2nd Team), ABCA (3rd Team), and D2CCA (3rd Team). Tanner received preseason recognition as an outfielder.

As a redshirt freshman for UAM, Tanner started in 55 games (playing in 56), holding a team-high .423 average with 90 total hits on the season. He launched 13 home runs and 17 doubles for 49 RBI and 62 runs scored. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native slugged for .685 on the year with a 1.203 OPS. Among his All-American honors, Tanner also earned All-GAC First Team, GAC Freshman of the Year, and First-Team All-Region nods from NCBWA, ABCA, and D2CCA.

Nelson Mercado was selected as a preseason second-team All-American by DII Baseball. Mercado returns to the Boll Weevils after earning GAC Honorable Mention honors in the 2024 season.

Mercado was the backbone of the pitching staff throughout the 2024 campaign, grabbing 10 saves on the year in 26 appearances. In 2024, Mercado held a 3.24 ERA, while striking out 59 of 208 batters faced through 50 innings pitched as a junior. Opponents held a .173 batting average against the Brampton, Ontario, Canada native.

Kirk Woolf was selected as a preseason third-team All-American. Woolf returns to UAM for his third season with the program after another successful season in 2024.

Woolf concluded the 2024 season with a .341 batting average while starting 50 games. He hit 16 doubles, 12 home runs, and two triples across 176 at-bats, finishing the season with a .659 slugging.

Arkansas-Monticello begins the 2025 season in one week at the Houston Winter Invitational held at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, hosted by the University of Central Missouri.
