BRANSON, Mo. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team split the opening games of the 2025 season Friday at the Branson Lead-Off Classic. They took on the Lions of Missouri Southern State University and the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University at Tanger Field at the Branson RecPlex. The Blossoms lost the first game 6-1 to the Lions, followed by a 2-1 win over the Peacocks.

Arkansas-Monticello: 1, Missouri Southern State: 6

Scoring Recap:
Missouri Southern was the first team on the board, capitalizing on Blossom errors to score four in the third.
The Lions added a fifth run to their lead in the fourth, followed by a sixth run in the top of the sixth.
Makenzie Martin drove in
Lainey Tippen in the bottom of the seventh for UAM's lone run. Monticello was unable to overcome the Lion lead, resulting in a 6-1 loss.

Upper Iowa scored first in game two, putting up their only run in the bottom of the first.
Makenzie Martin drove in
Kammie Walker and
Lainey Tippen on a single to center in the top of the sixth, leading to a 2-1 win for UAM.
The split on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 1-1 start to the 2025 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in Branson, Missouri, tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 1st, as they take on the Bulldogs of Truman State and the Jets of Newman to close out the Branson Lead-Off Classic. The games are set to begin at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
