MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took on the Tigers of East Central University at Steelman Fieldhouse on Thursday afternoon. The Weevils came out of the contest with a 66-61 overtime win for their first GAC win of the season.
Leading Arkansas-Monticello (4-9, 1-6 GAC) with 19 points in the game was
Seth Grandberry. Grandberry hit 5-13 field goals, 1-7 three-pointers, and 8-9 free throws while grabbing eight rebounds.
Jamir Turner was the other Boll Weevil with double-digits, scoring 16 on the afternoon. Turner was 6-14 on field goals and 3-4 on free throws with five rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
East Central (4-9, 1-6 GAC) was led by
Bishop Jones with 26 points.
The first half of the game was won by the Weevils as both teams would see back-and-forth baskets, causing five different lead changes throughout the period. The teams would head into the locker room at half-time with UAM leading, 24-22.
The second 20-minute period was again a battle throughout its entirety, seeing seven different lead changes in the period. Regular time ended with the two teams tied, 53-53. The Weevils carried their momentum in overtime to squeeze out the win, 66-61.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 7 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
