Blossoms Drop Match to Crimson Storm

BETHANY, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms volleyball team traveled to Oklahoma Thursday to commence GAC play with two out of state foes. The Blossoms opened the weekend series Thursday night with a meeting inside the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University. Arkansas-Monticello came out the contest on the wrong side of the scoreboard falling 3-0.

UAM was held to a .047 hitting percentage on 41 digs, 24 assists, 1 block, 4 aces, and 26 kills.

SET-BY-SET
FIRST SET (25-14 SNU, SNU leads 1-0)
The opening set began evenly matched as Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Nazarene exchanged points back-and-forth, bringing the set to 11-9 in favor of the Crimson Storm. The Blossom's momentum faltered as the Crimson Storm's offense pulled ahead, extending their lead to 22-12. The Blossoms could only manage two more points before SNU won the first set, 25-14.

SECOND SET (25-13 SNU, SNU leads 2-0)
Arkansas-Monticello fell behind to the Crimson Storm early in the second set, 12-5. The Blossoms were unable to find their rhythm as Southern Nazarene took complete control of the remainder of the set, extending their lead to 21-10. The Crimson Storm eventually took the set, 25-13, and lead the series, 2-0.

THIRD SET (25-20 SNU, SNU wins 3-0)
The Blossoms saw themselves with an early advantage in the third set, however Southern Nazarene quickly returned five unanswered points to claim the lead. The Blossoms responded with some momentum to bring the set within two points, 12-10. UAM and the Crimson Storm battled for points back-and-forth, however the last-minute rally by the Blossoms proved unsuccessful as SNU took the final set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0.

The Blossoms close out Oklahoma GAC action tomorrow in Shawnee, Oklahoma taking on the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University inside the Noble Complex. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
